This notice describes information used when you visit the Elkhorn Church of Christ website at elkhornchurchofchrist.org. It concerns this website, rather than every activity or record maintained by the congregation.
Information used to deliver the website
Our hosting provider, GoDaddy, receives technical information when your browser requests a page or file. This can include your IP address, the requested page, the date and time, browser information, and referring page information when supplied by your browser.
The hosting service may maintain access and security logs to operate the website, troubleshoot problems, and protect against misuse. The church has disabled GoDaddy’s optional Website Metrics / Real User Metrics program. This does not disable ordinary hosting or security logging.
Cookies and browser storage
The homepage uses your browser’s local storage to
remember when you dismiss the “Our Website Is Growing”
message. The stored preference is named
elkhorn-website-notice-dismissed-v2.
It records that the message was dismissed and does
not contain your name or contact information.
Local storage is different from a cookie. This preference remains until it is cleared or removed by your browser or the website. You can remove it through your browser’s site-data settings; the message may then appear again.
The website does not currently include an advertising pixel or a cookie consent manager. The absence of a consent banner does not mean that no technical information is processed.
The “Pause animations” control stores your choice in local storage under
elkhorn-animations-paused-v1. This preference is used to pause
site animation on later visits and remains until you change it or clear
this website’s stored data in your browser. It does not contain your
name or contact information.
Study tools and saved preferences
Study completion, the last lesson opened, and personal reflection notes are saved in this browser on this device. Saved lessons and lesson text-size preferences also use browser storage. These tools do not require an account or send your reflection notes to the church. Clearing this website’s browser data removes the saved information. The notes download option lets you keep a separate text-file copy.
Website search and optional knowledge checks run in your browser. These tools do not submit your search terms or quiz answers to the church, and quiz answers are not stored.
Fonts and external services
The website’s fonts are served from the church’s website hosting. Loading these fonts does not require a connection to Google Fonts.
The website also links to services such as Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps, and historical reference websites. Following a link takes you to another service, whose own privacy practices and settings apply.
Our current footer background video and devotional audio are served from the church’s website hosting, rather than embedded third-party video players.
Search and contact features
The lesson and devotional search features filter content within the page. They are not forms for sending a message to the church.
The website does not currently provide visitor accounts, an online payment checkout, or a contact submission form. If you contact the church using a listed telephone number or another service, you may choose to share information so that we can respond. Avoid sending sensitive personal information through public social-media comments.
Children and families
Families are welcome to use the website. Its current features do not ask children to create accounts or submit personal information online.
A parent or guardian who has a concern about a child’s information or photograph on this website should contact the church office.
Your choices and questions
You can manage stored site data and permissions in your browser. Blocking external resources may affect how some pages appear. You can also contact the church about privacy questions, information you have shared, or a photograph appearing on the website.
This notice does not establish one retention period for all information. Hosting logs are subject to the provider’s settings and practices. If you need information about a particular record, contact us.
